about

Emordnilap. Aidacra. In the Fall of 2010 I had the idea that I would like to produce a Glass album in Zen style. That is to say as free from all the usual manhandling that normally occurs when we collect our creative forces for another Glass release. An album done free from all our preconceptions, song idea exchanges, rehearsals and afterthoughts. Just show up somewhere and do it. One album recorded as much in the present moment as was possible for us at this point in time. It also occurred to me that the old Arcadia Barn in Pt. Townsend, Washington, where we had recorded in 1973 and 1975 might be a perfect venue for this.

So I contacted Madeleine Houston and Daniel Hauptman, the current owners of the Arcadia property, and found to my surprise that they were open to the idea of us recording there ! Fate seemed to be on our side and I took their open invitation and generosity as a sign to press forward. I had already called up Greg and Jerry and they were sympathetic to the idea (I did further entice my brother with the promise of being able to record some tracks on the Presbyterian Church's 1889 Whalley Genung Organ).

Our old soundman Erik Poulsen was brought back onboard with his camera and trusty Revox half-track in tow, and the plan was on !
-Jeff Sherman, 10/22/2011

Recorded March 29 to April 6, 2011 at Arcadia Barn, Pt. Townsend, Washington. Engineer: Erik Poulsen. Mastered by Michael King.

A lovely CD.
- Robert Wyatt

Palindrome sounds like no other album out there, not just in the progressive rock genre, but in any genre of music.

What a cool record. It's so chilled out and moves through so many interesting spaces but never feels like bombast. Love it.
- Elaine DiFalco (Thinking Plague)

This is as close to "live in the studio" as you can get, as close to pure clear undistilled Glass as you can find.
- Bob Carlberg

It might take several spins to adjust your ears, as this CD sounds like nothing else on the market. The effort will be richly rewarded however with a glimpse of the musical vision of the world's most distinct symphonic progressive trio.
- Prog Archives
