about

In the early '90s I was involved with a non-profit outreach organization called Xela-AID working in Guatemala:
xelaaid.org
It was a wonderful group of people led by an incredible activist / humanitarian named Leslie Baer.

This was my first foray into this type of thing and my first exposure to the real "Third World." I wrote and recorded an anthem about the experience called "Shine On" and published it under my pseudonym Jeff Joad.

The video we recorded of us in the studio recording "Shine On" was submitted to The Chicago Film Festival of that year and won an award!

This month I found an unmarked CD-r with Glass performing some songs I didn't immediately recognize. Then I realized and remembered Glass had been asked to write and record the soundtrack for the Xela-Aid documentary "Flight of The Quetzal" by Adolfo 'Rudy' Vargas.

Jeff Sherman and Paul Black can been seen on-screen in this video from 9:01 to 9:43.

This album is a very rare meeting of two of my creative personas: Jeff Sherman the Glass bassist, and Jeff Joad the activist & songwriter. Normally the two worlds never meet.
